After moving in early January, renovations are done and just a few finishing touches are left on the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention office and Gateway Seminary Arizona campus in Phoenix. That’s what AZSBC Executive Director David Johnson told the Convention Council at their meeting Sept. 10.
The last big project was repaving and striping the parking lot in September. The main project that remains is the arrival of chairs for the largest conference room/classroom.
“We are pleased with how the new office area is functioning and are in process of getting things in place,” Johnson said in his report.
The AZSBC completed the sale of the previous office in Scottsdale to a real estate developer last December for $2.5 million. The new facilities in Phoenix were purchased for $1.2 million. Renovations were about $550,000.
When the Convention Council voted to sell the Scottsdale property last year, Johnson told them funds remaining after remodeling costs “will be invested to produce income to take care of ongoing maintenance and future capital improvements, as well as benefitting missions through the Cooperative Program.”
In 2020, Johnson hopes to add fencing around the property.
