How does your church complete this sentence? Our church glorifies God and makes disciples by …

“How do people know what the process is for their growth, both personal and corporate?” asked Eddy Pearson, AZSBC evangelism/discipleship facilitator. “Does the kid in your congregation know how to grow? If you don’t know, Mathetes (math-ay-tes’ — New Testament Greek for disciple) is for you.”

The one-day Mathetes conference will be held Aug. 22 at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel, 2620 W. Dunlap Ave., Phoenix, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The annual Church Planting Retreat will be held at the same location the day before.

Will Mancini and Mike Gammill of Auxano will lead the training. Using Church Unique, they will guide pastors, staff and church leaders through the steps of evaluating a church’s individual needs, creating a clear vision to meet those needs and designing a process of connecting that vision to simple communication and a visual strategy. Mancini and Gammill teach teams to cultivate deeper passion and broader enthusiasm in the uniqueness of their churches and unlock their congregation’s one-of-a-kind potential.

“Currently there are 14 Arizona Southern Baptist churches working through a six-month process,” said Pearson. “Every church is unique and should have a clear, simple process for making disciples. We want to help churches walk through their uniqueness.”

The cost for the conference is $20 and includes lunch. Register online here by Aug. 12.
